Training & Education

GENERAL TRAINING AND EDUCATION

Training and education are key elements in the success of any EHS compliance and management program. Inadequate training can result in fines and, more importantly, accidents and injuries. CIH Enterprises’s training services focus on improving both the work environment and work practices. We can design a customized training program or tailor an existing program from our extensive library to suit your needs. From informal awareness training to customized EHS technical seminars and “train-the-trainer” programs—we have trained thousands of individuals at hundreds of locations around the world.

GHS/SDS TRAINING AND EDUCATION

OSHA has imposed a deadline of DeCIH Enterprisesber 1, 2013 for training employees on the GHS Hazard Communication Standard. According to the OSHA Web site:

OSHA is requiring that employees are trained on the new label elements (i.e., pictograms, hazard statements, precautionary statements, and signal words) and SDS format by DeCIH Enterprisesber 1, 2013, while full compliance with the final rule will begin in 2015. OSHA believes that American workplaces will soon begin to receive labels and SDSs that are consistent with the GHS, since many American and foreign chemical manufacturers have already begun to produce HazCom 2012/GHS-compliant labels and SDSs. It is important to ensure that when employees begin to see the new labels and SDSs in their workplaces, they will be familiar with them, understand how to use them, and access the information effectively.

With the GHS training deadline imminently approaching, we believe CIH Enterprises can be a critical asset in helping you to meet this OSHA deadline while keeping your costs low. We can help you with any combination of the following three services:

  • ON-SITE TRAINING – CIH Enterprises personnel can conduct a training seminar on the new GHS-based standards that have been adopted by OSHA.
  • WEB TRAINING AND RESOURCES – You may subscribe to access to our GHS/OSHA training Web site. This site includes (1) a training presentation (slides) on GHS labeling, pictograms, and hazard communication for your employees to review on-demand, or for your department managers and/or EHS staff to use for their own training seminars; (2) a printable on-line “Quick Reference Guide” for GHS labeling elements; and (3) an on-line quiz that you can offer to each of your employees to ensure that they are trained on the GHS labeling requirements. This online system tracks the scores for each employee, so your health & safety staff can identify whether training has been adequate at each site. This also provides very clear evidence to OSHA that you have successfully completed the GHS training requirement for all your employees.
  • COMPREHENSIVE ON-SITE ASSISTANCE – Finally, in some cases, you may require additional assistance in implementing the new OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. This assistance may include employee training as well as implementing the new GHS labeling requirements throughout your facility. CIH Enterprises personnel would be happy to provide personal on-site assistance should the need ever arise.
